The unregulated inflow volume into Lake Powell in January 2010 was just below what was forecasted at the beginning of January. The unregulated inflow to Lake Powell for the month of January was 304,000 acre-feet (75% of average). This was about 26,000 acre-feet below the unregulated inflow volume that was projected in the January 2010 24-Month Study.

Applications Now Open for Grand Canyon 2010 Main Lottery

Grand Canyon National Park opened the main 2011 river season lottery on February 1, 2010. The lottery will remain open to applications until noon February 24, 2010.
 
The lottery is strictly online based. The National Park Service (NPS) will not allow applications via fax, mail or phone. Winners are notified solely through email.
 
Of the trips available, 169 full sized trips of up to 16 people are in the winter season October through March.

Court Issues Second Decision in Grand Canyon Appeal

In an opinion released Monday, February 1, 2010 on the legality of the
2006 Colorado River Management plan (CRMP), the 9th District Court of
Appeals in San Francisco issued an original opinion and replaced their
previous opinion in support of the lower Arizona District Court.

The unregulated inflow volume into Lake Powell so far in February has been
somewhat below the forecasted level. As of February 21, 2010 the
unregulated inflow rate to Lake Powell is on pace to reach approximately
295,000 acre-feet for the month which would be about 30,000 acre-feet less
than what was forecasted at the beginning of February. The February 2010
