Ask A Congressman

River Runners For Wilderness encourages all Wait List participants dealing with the transition to the new permit system to contact their elected representatives (Senators and or House representatives) for assistance in gaining a noncommercial launch. You'll need to call your elected representative's local office and ask to speak with a staffer that deals with National Park issues. You can ask either your Senator or Representative, that's up to you. Tell them you are having a problem obtaining a permit, and need to schedule a meeting to explain your situation. Feel free to use the briefing statement template below.

You will need to ask for help on your behalf, and the assistance you need is to see if the Congressman will agree to help you in getting a permit by sending a letter to the park. You should have a draft sample letter to give to your staffer. A draft letter is below.

Good luck!
